We survived the ComicCon. Claire had a great time, Emma thought it was alright but probably won't go next time. I might've actually had the least amount of fun out of the three of us, mostly because I was carrying Claire the majority of the time and my arm felt like it was going to fall off by the end of the day, partially because it took us over 3 hours to get there. That's not to say I didn't have fun -- it was great to hook up with
marrow_blackand then see
voidmonster and
kirizal afterward.
But I can't believe how crowded it was. We decided to hit the Iron Man/Incredible Hulk panel about 15 minutes before it started and see Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Robert Downey, Jr., and Jon Favreau. Then we found the line, curling out of the convention center itself and snaking back and forth back and forth all the way to the parking garage. Needless to say, we didn't make it to that panel. Which is a bummer, because it sounds like that was one of the highlights from the con, but waiting hours to get into a panel isn't my idea of fun.
Walking the floor was cool. I got an Anansi Boys t-shirt from Neverwear. Claire enjoyed walking beneath a pirate ship and seeing Spider-man all over the place. She was not so keen about the ads for the Skinwalkers movie (and I can't really blame her) or the Caveman Robot, even though I ended up giving the big guy a hug to show her it was okay. Emma and I both really dug some of the minor details -- seeing a Black Stormtrooper walking out the con doors with blaster in one hand and his three-year in the other; a decked out superhero standing with his legs awkwardly crossed while he talked on the cellphone with a concerned look on his face.
I will probably go back to the Con next year, but I think I'll do it solo. It will be a few years before I take Claire again, once she's a little more independent. Wait, she's already plent independent. I meant independently mobile (and slightly taller).

Judging from all the travels you've got going on, it might be a while before you're in SD at the right time. But you'll have to come out to ComicCon when the Puritan Noir movie is making the rounds
The Puritan Noir movie - now that's something I wouldn't dare miss.
I'm glad you had fun at ComicCon. I'd like to go some day actually. It sounds fun, and I can catch up with a few friends in the area at the same time.
I'm still thinking about applying to Clarion in 2009 and 2010. If I apply, and get in, I'd at least be in the right area at the right time. (Whether I'd be able to go is a whole other question. I figure, by then, there will be some institutional experience about whether going to ComicCon while a Clarion student is a Bad Idea or not.)
As for the Puritan Noir movie, for some reason, I keep imagining it with the cast of The Crucible. (i.e. Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder.) Of course, everyone is 10 years older now.
Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder would kick ass. I'm just not sure which character Ryder would play -- the dead wife or the killer witch.
Yeah, reading JoBlo's reports, those Hulk and Iron Man panels sounded fucking ILL. But I'm convinced trying to make them in person would've resulted in me perpetrating intense geek-on-geek violence. Myself, I'm waiting to hit ComicCon 'til I'm actually on a panel and I don't have to deal with the pedestrian likes of you.
The sad thing is, Sigler's probably gonna be both of us there. I was half hoping they'd have some Infestation stuff at Rogue Pictures even though that's probably a ways off. On the bright side, Sigler won't have a thing on us by the time we hit our first panels.
