Me and My Shadow

Seriously, only half way through January and I'm already sick of trying to eat right.  (And to make it even worse, I didn't even try to eat well the first week of January...)

Halfway through January and my resolve to start biking daily has yet to kick in with any zest or zeal.

Why does being healthy involve so much boring stuff?? Seriously!

What really frustrates me is that I often feel like I can do one of two things in my spare time A) workout, or B) write.

Guess which one I choose?

Oh god, I know that feeling. This is why I generally try to work out while watching TV, because I'm going to watch "Life on Mars" anyway, so I might as well move my ass while doing so.

Are you on a bike or doing aerobics or something? Because I imagine if I was trying to watch TV while doing the treadmill I'd fall off.

Dave: OMG! They're not on the island!!! What the hell hap--

Vrmpf. Splat.

Emma: Dave, just lay there. Don't try to move!

Low impact aerobics and/or free weights. I'm all about exercising on the cheap.

I think my "no vending machine food, no drive-thru food" resolution lasted about four days.

I'm considering joining a gym (again) and that gym's weight-loss food-authoritarianism program (again), but I keep telling myself that January is a bad month because that's when everyone else will be doing it, and that February is a bad month because I'll be gone two out of four weekends.

I know Jen Pelland talked about the dieting vs. writing blues. One out of two is not bad, but not good enough either.

I'm better at limiting myself than completely cutting myself off. I think. We'll be able to tell for sure in a couple months whether or not it works.

To make matters worth, the damn vending machine just stole my money!!!

If only it had eyeballs, the better to kick it in.

Yeah, I could do with trying to eat right. I think that could be helped by actually stocking up on some food for the apartment at some point... it's quite rare that I have anything to cook in here, so I just don't bother.

Yeah, I can see that being rough. Do you get the chance to walk around the city a lot? I think that's a big problem of mine -- not being able to walk to a lot of places.

You're eating right? Go you!

Save your doughnut for next week, eat the doughnut, then go back to eating right.

Oh, I'm definitely eating. One day I'll actually try to fast, but right now I like eating too much.

Donuts next week. Linda said I could!
